Physiotherapy now a days  is considered as  a cornerstone in the comprehensive management of critically ill patients admitted in ICU. It may benefit patients and prevent some ICU  related complications. Physiotherapy has been recommended as a main component in the management of patients with critical illness. Proposed strategies include patient mobilization, passive, supported-active, and active mobilization; cycling and sitting in the bed; and standing, static walking, transferring from bed to chair, and walking. Early physiotherapy is aimed at improving a patient’s quality of life and preventing ICU-associated complications like de conditioning, ventilator dependency, and respiratory conditions

  • In SGT Hospital specialist Physiotherapist is called by the respective doctor to provide bed side Physiotherapy to the patients in the wards /ICU’s. This includes pre operative and post operative Physiotherapy of the patients in wards (Surgery, Medicine, Obs Gynae, Pediatrics, Orthopedics) and ICU’s.
  • Besides, on call Physiotherapy there is a regular visit by the Physiotherapist with the students to wards and ICU’s for providing bed side training to the students.
